PT Semen Indonesia has appointed former Jakarta governor and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) director, Sutiyoso, its president commissioner.

Sutiyoso served as BIN chief under President Joko Widodo’s administration and previously led the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI).

The appointment comes at a time of public protest against the building of the company’s new factory in Rembang, Central Java.
