Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hoang Trung Hai, has agreed to allow Nghi Son Cement Corp to continue the pilot import of fly ash as material for its cement production.

The deputy PM earlier agreed to allow Nghi Son Cement Corp to import a volume not exceeding 200,000tpa of fly ash in the 2015-2016 period.

However, he also requested the company develop a plan to use domestic fly ash from 2017. Vietnam, home to many thermal power plants, has a huge supply of fly ash. It is estimated that thermal power plants in Vietnam produce 4.5Mta. The figure is expected to hit 35Mt in 2030. (Source: Vietnam News Service).
