ISLAMABAD: International Monetary Fund (IMF) has proposed the levy of 15 percent sales tax on cement blocks and bricks, the primary raw materials for construction industry in Pakistan. Official sources disclosed that IMF has asked the government of Pakistan to levy 15 percent sales tax on cement blocks and bricks in the next financial budget 2004-05 to meet the already agreed conditions of IMF programme.
